backyard roots
Winner of the 2014 Nautilus Gold Book Award in Green Living/Sustainability, Backyard Roots is an inspiring book about 35 West Coast urban farmers from San Franciso to Vancouver, BC.
The book began with curiosity; I just wanted to see what Bay Area urban farmers were doing in their backyards. As the project grew, I met all kinds of characters from scrappy idealists who were willing to challenge outdated laws to immigrants who wanted to keep their culture alive. I visited over 75 farms and the resulting book is a compilation of the best stories, ideas, tips and over 200 photos. Visit the blog to see more.
